Obama Fears Nuclear Attack in Manhattan

President Obama was trying to dismiss any threat posed by Russia.  Instead, he may have given New Yorkers a reason to worry.

"I continue to be much more concerned when it comes to our security with the prospect of a nuclear weapon going off in Manhattan," said President Obama during a press confernce in the Netherlands.

The president's answer came in response to a question about the threat of Russia, after its invasion of Ukraine.  He said Russia's actions are a problem, but they don't pose the number one national security threat to the United States.

The New York City Police Department said there are no new threats against the city.

"For years the NYPD has recognized the fact that Manhattan is considered a potential terror target," Deputy Police Commissioner Stephen Davis told the Daily News.  "We continue to maintain an appropriate level of security according to on-going threat assessments.  There are currently no known threats of this nature against the city."
