NYC Subway Shut Down for Hours by ... 2 Kittens

(NEWSER) – The appearance of a pair of feline friends temporarily halted two New York City subway lines yesterday in Brooklyn, DNAinfo New Yorkreports. When officials noticed the kittens shortly after 11am, they shut down the power running to the Q and B lines, and a boss unsuccessfully "tried to corral them," according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. As locals took replacement shuttle buses, the story spread on the Internet; eventually, police climbed onto the tracks to pursue the creatures.

"People were throwing out ideas. The wind blew off a box of honey buns in their direction. We thought, ‘Maybe that would work?'" said a bystander. Service was up and running by about 1:09pm, but officers didn't catch them until nearly 6pm, with the aid of an insulated glove, the New York Daily News reports. The kittens, four weeks old, are set to receive medical evaluations at a Brooklyn animal shelter. Click through for more photos and video.
