Mount Sinai Surgeon Removes Wrong Kidney From Patient

A surgeon at Mount Sinai Medical Center made an embarrassing and dangerous mistake by removing the wrong kidney from a 76-year-old patient suffering from kidney disease.

The patient was on dialysis with two failed and diseased kidneys. The good news is that, according to the Associated Press, the failing kidney was eventually removed and the patient is doing well.  The bad news for the surgeon though, is that he/she has been relieved of their position at the hospital after the gaffe. The surgeon’s name has not been released. The hospital has reportedly apologized to the patient.
